Polycystic ovary syndrome know as PCOS is a health condition that affects 1 in 10 women world wide.

PCOS is the leading cause of infertility in women.

50% of women that have PCOS don't know they have it. It's a tough one to diagnose, with the symptoms being so varied.

So, let's start at the beginning. 

What is PCOS?

PCOS is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age that affects the following hormones; androgens, insulin, and progesterone. 

There is a lot of information always floating around about PCOS, so we wanted to give you 7 facts to clear up any misinformation out there. 

 

1. PCOS is Never your fault! 

PCOS is not your fault!  

The exact cause of PCOS is not known, however it is believed to be an imbalance of reproductive hormones. The three hormones that are affected with PCOS are progesterone, insulin, and androgens. The three markers for PCOS are irregular periods, high level of male hormones (androgens), and cysts on the ovaries! 

 

2. PCOS symptoms can be managed!

With Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome there are a vast amount of symptoms that vary from person to person. Some of the more common symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome are insulin resistance, irregular or long period cycles, and a high level of androgens. Other PCOS Symptoms are weight gain (mostly in the belly area), infertility, low sex drive, mood changes, anxiety, facial hair, acne on jar line, thinning hair - commonly on temple area, depression and so many more.

3. Yes, you can get pregnant if you have PCOS!

This is one myth that ladies come to me with all the time. They have been told they won't be able to get pregnant because they have PCOS.

I have news for you ladies...we usually need to get you ovulating, your cycle regular, your hormones balanced and your PCOS symptoms under control. The PCOS Pal program will help you will all of this.

5. Regular Exercise helps manage your PCOS 

Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do to manage your PCOS.

Exercise has been proven to help with PCOS symptoms. I see amazing benefits with my clients when they walk, bike, swim and to weight or resistance training. It's all about feeling good and lowing their insulin resistance. There is a big myth that if you have PCOS you have to exercise for hours and hours a day. This simply is not true, 30 minutes a day of a moderate exercise, can produce big positive results. 

 

6. Nutrition plays a big role in PCOS management

Nutrition is one of the most important things you can do to manage your PCOS

Research shows that eating a healthy balanced diet will help you control your PCOS symptoms. Eating foods like whole grains, lean proteins, fish, vegetables, and fruits will help maintain a healthy weight while managing your blood sugar. The Mediterranean diet has always been a fertility boosting diet and it works really well for ladies struggling with PCOS.

Do you need to be struggling with infertility to take the PCOS PALS Program.

The answer is, No! The program is about managing your PCOS symptoms. We will prepare you if you do want to become pregnant however that is not the  main goal of the program.
